This now two year old theatre company, is registered as an NGO. It uses a special type of theatre called Participatory/forum theatre. Rafiki Theatre employs the legacy techniques of three iconic theatre directors namely, Theatre of the oppressed by Augusto Boal, Poor theatre by Jerzy Growtoski, and Improvisation theatre by keith Johnstone
The most important point is that its performances are always free of charge, problem is that their performances are not on a daily basis.
Rafiki Theatre is based at the Tilapia Center http://www.tilapiacentre.com which opposite Bunga Market in Kampala, on Gaba Road. It has made several performances throughtout East africa and has worked with other big organisations. Check out their website above!
